Ethio Grooves with Hewan

THENCF presents ETHIO GROOVES at the Ballina Arts Centre, featuring Dublin-based Ethiopian DJ Hewan.

Hewan is a vinyl collector with special interest in Ethiopian modern and traditional music from the 60s/70s and all African grooves from the same era. Her selections cover afro-funk, afro-beat, high-life, and rare finds of all genres of music from Africa.

About Hewan

Besides her monthly radio show on Dublin Digital Radio, Hewan has been part of Donal Dineen’s Backstory guest DJs and played at ATN, Body & Soul, Cork Jazz festivals and various venues across Dublin and the counties. She has also supported and played with local and international DJs and artists like Hailu Mergia and Def Nettle.
