Take Me To The River - Foraging & Music on the River Moy

Peter Broderick

Sunday, September 7th

NCF Cultural Co-op and October Nights announce a unique music and foraging event on September 7th (11.30am approx) with acclaimed musician Peter Broderick and forager Denis Quinn.

It’s a ‘one-off’ event for lovers of nature and song, promising an informative and music-filled walk and talk about foraged and edible food at the Moy estuary near Killala, Co Mayo.

The walk will be led by Denis Quinn of Wild Atlantic Cultural Tours, who’s an experienced forager and certified Failte Ireland Local Marine and Countryside Guide.

Denis will guide participants along a stretch of the estuary discussing what can be foraged. He will also discuss the environmental impact of water quality on local biodiversity and availability of edible foods.

Musician and forager, Peter Broderick, will perform a short set unique to this event including a new piece of music, written especially for this water themed event.

He’ll also discuss his experience of coastline and riverside foraging and their influence upon his songwriting, creative process and outlook on life.

This project was funded by LAWPRO under the Community Water Development Fund 2025
