February news

February 07, 2025

Hello and welcome to the February's newsletter.

Before we get to the events, we'd like to remind everyone who is interested in having their events promoted in this newsletter to drop a line to info@thencf.art, ideally at the end of the month for events upcoming the next month.
The community is expanding and it became difficult at this stage to send a reminder to every member who could potentially have events planned.

As well as that, we are short of volunteers. We will have our AGM as soon as possible, in the meantime we need help with many projects and it would be nice to include as many as possible from the community. We are also looking into the possibility to hire a caretaker for the space, so stay tuned!

Events

Our space in Pearse Street got successfully booked for two events coming up in the next months (details are to follow in the next newsletter).

In the meantime, we would like to remind any member who wishes to book the space for their events, to do so though the form on our website: https://thencf.art/space

Please note that a minimum of 20 euros is required to cover shared costs per day. All bookings are provisional until confirmed by email. Space is for members use only.

Other events outside the space

Coming soon at the Ballina Arts Center is The Last Pearl presented by Blue Raincoat Theatre Company on Wednesday 19th February at 8pm.

In this critically acclaimed production Blue Raincoat Theatre Company uses scaled models as well as bunraku and shadow puppetry to bring The Last Pearl to life. This beautiful, original and captivating production tells the story of M, a pearl diver, and her daughter, as they scavenge in a dying world. It is a story of bravery and determination and their ability to adapt to a changing environment and ultimately survive. The production is inspired by the ideas of the environmentalist James Lovelock.
Directed by Niall Henry.
Dramaturg Jocelyn Clarke.
A highlight of the 2025 theatre programme of the Ballina Arts Center, it is not to be missed! Book tickets here https://ballinaartscentre.com/event/the-last-pearl/
